BIRKERØD, Denmark, May 20, 2013 — NKT Photonics has unveiled the SuperK Extend-UV wavelength extension unit, a tunable deep-UV supercontinuum-powered light source. It is suitable for applications including measuring fluorescence lifetime and studying ultrafast photochemical processes.

The device provides tunable light in the 270- to 400-nm range, pulses as short as 20 ps with variable megahertz-range repetition rate, and power levels on the order of 10 to 100 μW. Its collimated output enables tight focusing.

The laser features supercontinuum pass-through ports, enabling the user to access the entire spectrum (400 to 2400 nm) from the SuperK Extreme. In a multiexperiment environment, the ports act as a hub, routing the various parts of the spectrum to setups through the proprietary broadband fiber delivery system.
