MORGANVILLE, N.J., May 28, 2013 — With an improved mechanical design and greater capabilities than its predecessor, Vytran LLC’s LFS-4100 optical fiber splicer is for use on fibers as large as 1.25 mm.

The device uses proprietary filament fusion technology to create high-strength, low-loss splices on both standard and specialty fibers, including polarization-maintaining, photonic crystal and noncircular-shaped.

The splicer can be used with the company’s LDC-400 large-diameter fiber cleavers and GPX-3000 series glass processors, reducing total process time for volume manufacturing of fiber lasers and fiber-based medical devices.
