Point Grey has added 1.3-megapixel CCD camera models to its Blackfly line of GigE Vision cameras. They support Power over Ethernet and are suitable for applications including machine vision; scientific; traffic applications, including 2-D and 3-D metrology; electronics and semiconductor inspection; microscopy; and automated license plate recognition.

The new models are based on color and monochrome versions of the Sony ICX445 EXview HAD CCD and can stream high-quality 1288 × 964 images at 22 fps over PoE GigE.

Measuring 29 × 29 × 30 mm, the cameras offer features such as temperature, power and status monitoring; an image-processing pipeline for color interpolation, look-up table and gamma; and a 16-MB frame buffer for retransmitting images. As with all Gigabit Ethernet cameras, the cameras comply with version 1.2 of the GigE Vision specification, allowing them to interface with the proprietary FlyCapture SDK as well as various third-party software packages.
