MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada, Aug. 6, 2013 — Lumen Dynamics has expanded its X-Cite LED illumination line with the X-Cite 120LED for fluorescence microscopy. The system caters to a wide range of fluorophores and fluorescent proteins to deliver field uniformity at the specimen level over a fluorescence excitation range of 370 to 700 nm.

The thermal management design allows direct coupling to the microscope to increase power while limiting mechanical vibration. An electronic shutter provides submillisecond operation for vibration-sensitive applications, and the device features multiple control options for multidaytime-lapse experiments.

The LED on/off capability minimizes photobleaching and phototoxicity while offering fast PC control and transistor-transistor logic triggering. The system requires no lamp or module replacement and features LEDs rated up to 25,000 hours.
