RICHMOND, British Columbia, Canada, Aug. 14, 2013 — Point Grey Research Inc. has added the GS3-U3-91S6 to its Grasshopper3 camera line. It is based on color and monochrome versions of the Sony ICX814, a 1-in. CCD featuring 3.69-μm² pixels and a proprietary USB 3.0 interface.

The camera outputs 3376 × 2704 images at 9 fps using monochrome, raw or color-interpolated pixel formats. The high-resolution CCD global shutter sensor uses EXview HAD CCD II technology to improve quantum efficiency, reduce smear and increase sensitivity, including into the near-IR. It is capable of single-tap readout for extended shutter, high-gain imaging and multitap readout to increase the maximum frame rate. Users can toggle between single- and dual-tap-sensor readout and address both imaging conditions.

The instrument offers quantum efficiency, low temporal dark noise and high dynamic range for applications including flat panel inspection, 3-D measurement, ophthalmology, flow-scanning cytometry and fluorescence imaging.
