LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 19, 2013 — The L56SS bar-feeder laser alignment system from Laser Tools Co. Inc. can reduce maintenance costs, energy consumption and vibration by preventing misalignment in machining applications.

The device is chucked within the lathe’s spindle; as the laser beam shoots through the spindle and down the carriage of the bar feeder, two targets register the horizontal and vertical positions of the front and back of the carriage. The horizontal position is adjusted during bar feeder installation but is often readjusted when the feeder is moved or bumped. Depending on the style of the feeder, the vertical position is adjusted manually each time a new diameter of bar stock is loaded into the feeder.

The compact and portable system accommodates bores as small as ¾ in. in diameter and produces a laser beam that is straight to ±0.01 ft at 10 ft.
