WETZLAR, Germany, Aug. 26, 2013 — Leica Microsystems has launched FluoScout, an online tool that allows users of fluorescence microscopes to determine the optimal filter cube or filter set for the imaging application.

The software chooses the filter cube according to the light source and fluorophores being used. A good fit of excitation and emission filters maximizes the efficiency of the fluorophores to provide crisp images.

The software quantifies the transmission and emission, and enables the user to fade in and out of a single spectrum, or to zoom in for more details. A colored bar indicates the spectrum range and serves as a reference to the visible light range.

The online help function and a tool tip guide the user through the site, and selected spectra can be shared via email or bookmarked. Questions can be posted directly to the company’s technical support team.
