ISL29035 Ambient and Infrared Sensor

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 23, 2013 — The ISL29035 ambient and infrared sensor from Intersil Corp. provides sensitivity to various light sources in handheld, PC, TV and industrial display applications, along with suitable angular response.

The six-lead digital light sensor measures 1.5 × 1.6 × 0.75 mm and offers angular response of a minimum of ±35% field of view at 50% light intensity. Its dynamic range is 0.01 to 64,000 lux; a lux-range select feature allows users to program display brightness for various ambient light conditions, such as dark, normal and bright light.

The sensor’s self-calibrated photodiode arrays emulate human eye response, providing suitable IR light rejection. An on-chip charge-balancing 16-bit analog-to-digital converter rejects 50- and 60-Hz flicker caused by artificial light sources.

It supports the requirements of Windows 8 and Android operating systems.
