Skyscan 1272 Micro-CT System

ALLENTOWN, Pa., Nov. 27, 2013 — Micro Photonics Inc. is offering the SkyScan 1272, a benchtop x-ray micro-CT (computed tomography) system from Bruker MicroCT that can nondestructively visualize more than 200-MP virtual slices through objects.

The system uses 14-bit large-format detectors and a microfocus x-ray source adjustable up to 100 kV with five filters for selecting different energy spectra. It can reconstruct more than 2600 slices captured in a single scan and can stitch together multiple scans for longer fields of view. With the added phase contrast enhancement, the detail detectability is 0.35 µm. The maximum object diameter is 75 mm.

An optional 16-position automatic sample changer allows the sample to be added, removed or replaced without interrupting the scanning process. LEDs next to each sample position inform the user whether the sample has been scanned or is still in the queue. A 5-MP visual camera shows the sample during scanning and records an mage with the data set. Applications include the life sciences and material.
