3-D Laser Height System

BARTON-UPON-HUMBER, England, Dec. 3, 2013 — Olmec Ltd. has released a laser height system that uses an LMI Gocator 3-D smart camera to inspect bearings used in bogies in the railway industry.

The camera includes an integrated laser source and optics to provide onboard processing of 3-D data. The Gocator 2050 sensor offers a field of view of 158 to 365 mm and a measurement depth range of 400 mm. Bearings with a height range of 125 to 285 mm are measured to a tolerance of ±1 mm.

The Gocator records profile images and measures the height of the finished product. If the height of the component is not within the expected tolerances, the conveyor belt is stopped and an audible alarm is raised.
