tLARGEThe OSP500LM noncontact surface profiling, measurement and gauging instrument from Uniscan Instruments Ltd. is designed for high-speed metrology applications where surface measurement at the micron level is required over areas up to 500 x 500 mm. The device uses precision linear motors to scan a laser displacement device over the surface at speeds of 1 m/s, collecting data at up to one sample per micron. Surface topography and profiles can be recorded with a data density of 256,000 samples per line. All scanning and data acquisition parameters are controlled via Windows NT/95/98 software, data is displayed in real time, and laser probe positioning is accurate to within 1 µm. Suitable applications for the OSP500LM include surface digitization for mold making, in-tray inspection and large-component inspection.
