NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I., Jan. 17, 2014 — Hexagon Metrology’s WLS qFlash stereo vision system uses blue-light technology to capture 3-D measurements on the shop floor for industrial measurement applications.

The portable system creates reports and digitizes acquired data for analysis or direct CAD comparison, and can be used as a handheld device or on a mobile pedestal. It uses patented stereo vision technology and 2-D image processing to measure surfaces, closed features and edge lines.

Wrapped in a carbon fiber optical housing, the device offers low sensitivity to machinery vibration, industrial light or temperature change. It is suitable for measuring aerospace components, automotive plastic parts or interiors, closures, aluminum and metal castings, medium sheet metal parts, molds and dies.
