TAS Spectroscopy

Jun 2014
Newport CorporationRequest Info
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 27, 2014 — The TAS (Transient Absorption Spectrometer) by Newport Corp. is suitable for studying the dynamics of a variety of samples. In conjunction with amplified femtosecond lasers, it can be used for pump-probe, time-resolved spectroscopy.

The laser input to the TAS is split into two parallel beams: the fundamental pump for exciting the sample, and the broadband supercontinuum for probing the sample as a function of time over many wavelengths. It offers a broad delay range with standard or enhanced time resolution, and includes a fiber-coupled multichannel detector and Oriel MS127i imaging spectrograph.

The standard configuration covers the UV-VIS spectral range, but the device can be extended further into the UV and IR regions.

femtosecond laser
A type of ultrafast laser that creates a minimal amount of heat-affected zones by having a pulse duration below the picosecond level, making the technology ideal for micromachining, medical device fabrication, scientific research, eye surgery and bioimaging.
