Teledyne Dalsa has added two new models to its Shad-o-Box x-ray detector line, the 3K and 6K HS. The sensors are suitable for applications such as industrial x-ray inspection, scientific imaging and nondestructive testing, including printed circuit board inspection, microfocus CT and small-animal imaging.

They offer resolutions of 2304 × 1300 and 2304 × 2940 pixels with active areas of 11.4 × 6.4 and 11.4 × 14.6 cm, respectively; both use a 49.5-µm pixel size. They deliver real-time rates of up to 10 fps in a single-tile, fully integrated large-area device featuring Gigabit Ethernet interface.

The detectors leverage proprietary CMOS image sensing technology, enabling the delivery of low-dose x-ray images yielding higher quality than amorphous silicon flat panels and image intensifier devices.

Other features include resolution of 10 line pairs per millimeter, 14-bit image digitization, software development kits, drivers and programming support.
