AUBURN, Mass., July 31, 2014 — The HV 10-6 Torr and UHV 10-9 Torr by Physik Instrumente are the newest additions to the N-470 PiezoMike precision screw-type actuator series for applications such as lasers, photonics and fiber alignment, optomechanics and biotechnology.

The new vacuum-compatible versions of the N-470 series offer a 20-nm positional resolution, as well as travel ranges from 1&frsl;4 to 1 in. These actuators replace manual micrometer screws and can be controlled by a computer to simplify the automated adjustment of optics, lasers and micro-mechanical components.

Several OEM and bench-top controllers are available for up to four channels.
