BEDFORD, Mass., Sept. 22, 2014 — The new 192-fiber reconfigurable single-mode optical switch from Polatis provides non-blocking SDN-enabled connectivity between any pair of fiber ports with typically 1 dB of path loss.

The switch has fiber ports that are uncommitted to input or output groups, meaning the same module can be used for any combination of symmetric (N × N) and asymmetric (N × M) switch configurations.

The module is suited for environments that use bidirectional transmission, including data centers, and software-defined network applications where connection loss, stability and reproducibility are critical.
