HACKENSACK, N.J., Dec. 8, 2014 — Master Bond UV15X-2Suited for bonding dissimilar substrates, a new UV-curable adhesive from Master Bond can be used in fiber optic, optical, laser and other applications.

UV15X-2 cures in 10 to 30 seconds when exposed to a UV light source. It is clear after curing and has a refractive index of 1.51. It offers very low shrinkage upon curing and a tensile strength of 6000 to 7000 psi.

The compound is able to withstand rigorous thermal cycling from -80 to 300 °F. It resists many chemicals, such as water, oils, fuels, acids and bases.

An intermolecular substance that serves to hold materials together. Two types are used in the optical industry: one, which must be transparent and colorless, to cement lenses together; and a general-purpose adhesive for bonding prisms and other glass parts to their metallic supports.
