PROVIDENCE, R.I., March 3, 2015 — The Sapphire Truncated Hyper-Hemisphere Dome from Meller Optics provides 360° viewing with an enhanced 65° field of view.
The dome permits IR and shortwave-infrared (SWIR) viewing, and can be fabricated with outer diameters from 6 to 10.5 in. and with 0.2- to 0.75-in. thick walls. Featuring Mohs 9 hardness second only to diamond, the sapphire dome has a 40-20 scratch-dig surface finish, 10-angstrom surface roughness and a surface figure of 1 fringe over any 2-in. diameter on both faces.
Designed to protect cameras, sensors and detectors in harsh environments, the dome provides up to 85 percent transmission uncoated in the UV to IR, with up to 99 percent when antireflection coating is applied on two sides.
