SAN JOSE, Calif., March 23, 2015 — NeoPhotonics Corp. has announced a new compact, dual-rate 100G CFP4 LR4 transceiver for optical communications applications.

The 100G CFP4 LR4 requires less power and is half the size of the current CFP2 form factor, making it suitable for bandwidth-hungry data center applications where both port density and lower power are desired.

Combining CFP4 MSA and MDIO functionality, the transceiver is interoperable with the previous generation of CFP and CFP2 modules. The 4-channel photonic integrated circuit (PIC) transmitter uses the company’s 28G EML lasers and drivers.
