PUCHHEIM, Germany — Scanlab RTC 4 EthernetA new Ethernet-based controller board from Scanlab AG enables increased production automation of laser marking systems.

With the RTC 4 Ethernet controller board, a machine's design no longer requires fixed integration of an industrial PC, which in turn reduces system size and lowers shipping and logistics costs. Control and operation are carried out flexibly over Ethernet.

Direct network connectivity eliminates cable-length restrictions of USB-based boards, and multiple Ethernet boards and scan systems can be connected to a network.

Core standard features include 16-bit position resolution and support for the widely used XY2-100 standard/enhanced protocol. The latter allows flexible control of scan systems from diverse manufacturers. Optional functionality can be activated for controlling a third axis (3-D), processing moving objects (processing on the fly) or simultaneously controlling two scan heads.
