SAN JOSE, Calif. — CMOS Image SensorToshiba America Electronic Components Inc. has announced the T4KE1 CMOS image sensor, featuring iris recognition technology and high IR sensitivity to enable advanced security for mobile devices.

The 2.1-MP sensor captures images for recognition with higher sensitivity than conventional CMOS image sensors by omitting the usual color filter in the pixel structure, increasing sensitivity in the near-infrared spectrum.

The T4KE1 has an optical size of 1/7.3 in. and a backside-illuminated pixel pitch of 1.12 μm. An image output of 60 fps at 1080p is featured.
