SHENZHEN, China — Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has announced the Snapdragon 618 Internet protocol camera reference design and development platform for professional security cameras.
The system includes a reference design and software development kit, supporting 4K high-efficiency video encoding, comprehensive connectivity and heterogeneous computing for video analytics. A six-core, 64-bit CPU is combined with a next-generation graphics processing unit and embedded digital signal processing with advanced video analytics to stream video and perform on-camera analytics, such as object detection, facial detection and recognition, multiobject tracking, and object classification.
Other features include dual 1.8-GHz ARM Cortex-A72 processing cores, quad 1.2-GHz Cortex-A53 cores, integrated X8 LTE with global mode, and advanced carrier aggregation up to 2 × 20 MHz in both downlink and uplink.
