SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 10, 2016 — Ultrafast Fiber LasersThe Fidelity 10 and Fidelity 18 ultrafast fiber lasers from Coherent Inc. offer 10 and 18 W of output power, respectively, with high average power and short pulse widths that enable high-intensity focusing.

A pulse width of 140 fs is featured at a wavelength of 1040 nm. A software-adjustable, internal precompensator allows the user to optimize pulse width and peak power at the sample or workpiece.

Applications include optogenetics research, scribing, rapid prototyping and nonlinear optics applications.

A laser in which the lasing medium is an optical fiber doped with low levels of rare-earth halides to make it capable of amplifying light. Output is tunable over a broad range and can be broadband. Laser diodes can be used for pumping because of the fiber laser's low threshold power, eliminating the need for cooling.
