WÜRZBURG, Germany, Feb. 23, 2016 — The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research has announced ORMOCER inorganic-organic hybrid polymers with adjustable properties.

The polymers stem from underlying inorganic molecular structures that are responsible for high chemical, thermal and mechanical stability. Refractive index and low absorption are maintained under harsh conditions with no yellowing. Their properties can be tailored to application-specific needs by adaptation of the molecular structure during the synthesis.

ORMOCERs can be processed with conventional UV lithography, nanoimprint lithography, other printing and replication techniques, as well as two-photon polymerization.
