Fiber Connectors

Mar 2016
CommScope Inc.
HICKORY, N.C., March 8, 2016 — The VECTOR initiative, coordinated by CommScope Inc., has announced novel optical fiber connectors for link-based, high-speed Internet access. The solution builds on a ferrule-free connector, which grants ultrahigh optical performance on a fully automated installation, allowing for field installation. The connector meets and exceeds the Grade-B insertion loss specifications for optical connectors in accordance with the International Electrotechnical Commission’s standard for random mated connectors. They do not require cleaning between mating cycles, possessing a self-cleaning feature that keeps fiber tips dust-free with low connection loss and high repeatability. The connectors are designed to be field-installable but can also be factory-installed.
