The Tec 500 Littman laser is suitable for molecular spectroscopy, metrology, injection seeding, and atom cooling and trapping. Sacher Lasertechnik designed the tunable, external cavity diode laser to synchronize the grating- and cavity-defined wavelengths by rotating the tuning mirror. The adjustment of the pivot point is made during the wavelength scanning operation to ensure mode-hop-free tuning. The Tec 500 has a coarse tuning range of 10 to 80 nm, mode-hop-free range from 100 to 200 GHz, linewidth <0.5 MHz, and typical drift over 24 h of 300 MHz.
