ANDOVER, Mass., Feb. 24, 2017 — The New Focus 8535-CL Closed-Loop Picolis Linear Stage from MKS Instruments Inc. features Newport Corp.’s proprietary Picomotor technology and is equipped with a quasi-absolute encoder for quick absolute positioning upon startup.

The 8535-CL linear stage features a travel range of 15 mm with a minimum incremental motion capability of
<30 nm. In closed loop operation, positioning repeatability of ±1 µm can be achieved. The integrated quasi-absolute encoder has a small footprint, yet eliminates the need for the stage to travel long distances to find a home position or center index.

Applications include advanced scientific and industrial applications in metrology, microscopy, nanotechnology, material science, biotechnology and more.
