ANDOVER, Mass., Oct. 26, 2017 — Raman SpectrometerThe Newport Femtosecond Stimulated Raman Spectrometer (FSRS) from MKS Instruments Inc. is designed for the scientific research market as a commercially available turn-key spectrometer for femtosecond stimulated Raman scattering.

The Newport FSRS is a nonlinear optical pump-probe spectrometer that combines a narrowband Raman pump, ultrafast broadband probe and an ultrafast optical excitation actinic pulse. This allows for time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy with simultaneous high spectral and time resolution in the ground and excited states of molecules, free from the interference of background fluorescence.

With this device, researchers gain additional tools in analyzing femtosecond to nanosecond changes to molecular structure, energy state and chemical reaction dynamics in fields such as biology, chemistry and materials science.
