BaySpec Inc. has introduced erbium-doped fiber amplifiers designed for OEM integration into applications that require high gain and a low noise figure. The Metro-AE modules operate on 5 VDC and meet Bellcore GR-1312-Core requirements. The driving and controlling electronics are fully integrated into the 4.0 x 2.2 x 0.5-in. package. The amplifiers have a typical noise figure of 5 dB across the entire 1530- to 1565-nm wavelength range.
