Terahertz Technologies Inc. has announced a stand-alone version of its P-444-EPP pyroelectric probe that, used with an oscilloscope, can determine pulsed energy from a laser. The probe's pyroelectric detector consists of a thin slice of ferroelectric material with temperature-dependent electrical polarization to absorb radiant energy and generate a current proportional to the rate of change of the material temperature. It has a power range from 10 µJ to 1 J, a spectral range from 350 nm to 2 µm (±3%), noise level <5 x 108 J and a maximum repetition rate of 75 pps.
