Vision Components has added the VC38 to its series of industrial smart cameras. Measuring 100 x 50 x 36 mm and weighing 250 g, it features a Sony 1/3-in. progressive-scan sensor that provides pixel resolution of 640 x 480 and a digital signal processor from Analog Devices Inc. that is 20% faster than earlier models. The camera has 8 MB of SDRAM and 2 MB of nonvolatile flash EPROM. It also offers four 12- to 24-V inputs and four 150-mA outputs, an RS-232 serial port, pixel-identical sensor readout and a video output signal that can be displayed on a standard VGA monitor.
