Dymax Corp. has developed a thick- film coating, 9-20558, that cures in seconds upon exposure to UV/VIS light and that adheres to Kapton flex circuits. The cured coating forms a transparent layer that protects underlying circuitry and components from moisture, dust and other contaminants. It features a secondary heat-curing capability and flow characteristics designed for quick coverage without running. Thicknesses to 0.06 mils can be cured at belt speeds of 2 to 4 ft/min or under spot lamps in a few seconds. Cure depths to 1/4 in. are possible.
