Optical Research Associates has released version 3.0 of LightTools with 3-D rendering capabilities and the ability to model scattering surfaces. The software has an OpenGL rendering engine that speeds the display of images. The software can import measured BSDF data for a surface, which can be used to model rotationally symmetric scatter or to fit to an elliptical Gaussian function to model anisotropic scatter. Aim areas and cones enhance the speed and accuracy of the system's scatter analysis.
