Optical network and digital imaging products from Ocean Optics Inc. are based on the company's Dichroic Filter Array (DFA) technology. The technology combines modern optical thin-film deposition techniques with microlithographic procedures to produce micron-scale precision patterning of dichroic coatings on a single substrate. Applications include the production of optomechanical and -electrical devices, DWDMs requiring improved microelectromechanical devices and LCD-based optical cross-connect technologies. DFA technology also can be used in digital display for consumer and commercial applications and to pattern a variety of optical coatings such as dielectric multilayer reflectors, bandpass filters, dichroic edge filters and broadband antireflection coatings.
