lIndustrialRofin-Sinar Inc. has released the RF 040 CO2 industrial processing laser with guaranteed 4-kW output and a typical range of 400 to 4400 W. Its generator is configured with modular components, and the company says it requires no adjustments to compensate for fluctuations in operational parameters. It is suitable for cutting aluminum and stainless steel, as well as for carbon steel up to 1 in., while maintaining its ability to cut thin sheets at high speeds. The beam is polarized at 45° by the resonator design, eliminating the need for external polarizing optics. It provides up to 10-kHz pulse frequency and a duration range of 25 µs to CW. Other features include ±2% long-term output power stability, beam quality of M2 <2.5 and pointing stability of ±0.15 mrad.
