Xenoplan bilateral telecentric lenses for use in noncontact optical metrology have been released by Schneider Optics Inc. The company says these lenses create a parallel beam path that makes the system highly insensitive to object size and location so that even complicated shapes and structures can be identified, and they provide distortion-free imaging over the entire object field, eliminating the need for software correction of results. Designed to work with standard 2/3-in. C-mount cameras, each lens has manually adjustable iris and focus controls with front threads to accept filters. The mounting collar and fine-focus control can be rotated to any position to adjust to unusual or cramped system configurations.
