The new periodically poled lithium-niobate optical parametric oscillator from Aculight features an integrated diode-pumped solid-state laser with wavelengths that cover the 1.36- to 5-µm range. The laser is a high-pulse-rate Q-switched oscillator that operates at 20 kHz. The semiconductor diode is fiber coupled to the laser head. The unit uses standard 110-VAC power, and no external water source is required. The modular unit can be upgraded for other wavelength conversion modules. These sealed assemblies require no adjustment or maintenance. Applications include tissue ablation, cutting and coagulation, hydrocarbon gas and methane leak detection and military countermeasures.
