dPhotodiodesThe G8198 series of InGaAs PIN photodiodes from Hamamatsu Corp. feature high-speed response at low reverse voltage, low noise, low dark current and low terminal capacitance. These features make them suitable for optical fiber communications applications such as fiber channel and Gigabit Ethernet networks. The G8198-01 has 3-GHz response, and the -02 version has 2-GHz response when VR = 2 V. The -01 and -02 models also exhibit typical dark current of 0.06 and 0.08 nA and terminal capacitance of 0.6 and 0.9 pF, respectively. Both have a spectral response range of 0.9 to 1.7 µm, with peak sensitivity at 1.55 µm.
