100-GHz OCPM
BaySpec Inc.Request Info
BaySpec Inc. has announced commercial availability of its IntelliGuard optical channel performance monitor (OCPM), now with an enhanced 100-Gb/s modulation format defined by the Optical Internetworking Forum.
The bandwidth required by services such as video streaming, online gaming, 100-Mb/s Internet and simplified fiber handling requirements are driving new demand for 100 Gb in the transport network. The OCPM design ensures a future-proof ability to upgrade existing units in the field simply through a firmware upgrade, enabling significant operating cost reduction in the price-sensitive metro core market, where demand is strongest. Devices at 100 Gb also are compatible with existing 10-/40-Gb units. The IntelliGuard OCPM is Telcordia GR-1209/1221-CORE-qualified.
The company’s family of monitoring products enable agile optical networking, including coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM); S-, C- and L-band IntelliGuard OCPMs; ultrawideband optical spectrum analyzers; intelligent erbium-doped fiber amplifers (EDFAs); and amplified spontaneous emission light sources.
Applications include reconfigurable optical add/drop monitoring, physical layer monitoring for provisioning and commissioning optical networks, real-time fault detection and isolation in dense wavelength division multiplying (DWDM) systems, EDFA gain balancing, channel power/wavelength/optical signal-to-noise ratio measurements, and handheld battery-operated CWDM and DWDM field test equipment for low-cost testing in triple-play fiber deployments.
