1830-R Optical Power Meters
Newport CorporationRequest Info
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 28, 2011 — Newport Corp. has announced the 1830-R optical power meters, drop-in replacements for the company’s legacy 1830-C power meter, which has been widely used in fiber optic component production and testing.
The DC power measurements can easily be viewed in the seven-segment, backlit LED display. Units of watts, decibels above 1 mW, decibels and relative measurement can be displayed in the four-and-a-half digit wide-angle view. Features include a wide dynamic range, power sensitivities down to 10 pW and full-scale readings up to 2 W (detector-dependent). The built-in audible beeping tone changes its frequency as a function of incident optical power, making it useful when optimizing the beam alignment.
Other features include a USB 2.0 interface (Model 1830-R) and additional IEEE-488 (GPIB)/RS-232C outputs (Model 1830-R-GPIB). For added convenience, two analog output modes, 2 V into 1-MΩ and 1 V into 50-Ω impedance, are also provided. The enhanced 1830-R-GPIB model is hot-swappable among detectors, such as the proprietary low-power 818 series photodiodes and higher-sensitivity 918D photodiode detector series. The ultraviolet, silicon, germanium or indium gallium arsenide detectors operate in the 200- to 1800-nm wavelengths.
CE- and RoHS-compliant, the 1830-R optical power meters are available for shipping now. A USB memory stick with software and documents are included.
