WEST CHESTER, Pa., July 24, 2013 — Portescap’s 22ECS brushless, slotless motor runs up to 30 percent cooler than similar motors, at speeds >50,000 rpm.
The 22-mm motor provides a high-efficiency magnetic circuit that reduces the iron and recirculation losses that cause motor stator heating at high speeds. A patent-pending motor coil achieves up to 160 W, or 45 mNm, of continuous torque.
The device uses high-performance lubrication and ball bearings to extend motor life and maximize performance at high speeds. It can change speeds and accelerate rapidly, making it suitable for medical ventilation or portable hand-tool applications, especially in controlled environments where the air around the motor must stay as cool as possible. Its compact size allows for applications to be smaller and more mobile.
The motor can be supplied with a PCB built-in temperature sensor to enable continuous temperature monitoring during peak power operation.
