SICK.jpgSick Inc. has announced a camera that provides real-world calibrated data for 3-D in-line vision scanning inspections. The Ruler E has a built-in laser and optics for a predefined field of view, and the integration of the lighting and camera into a robust IP 65 housing makes it suitable for use in harsh environments such as in the wood, steel and automotive industries. Multiscan technology performs multiple inspections simultaneously. The camera acquires 10,000 profiles per second, with up to 1536 height measurements per profile. It can measure object height, shape and volume and can detect and locate shape defects. Data output is in calibrated X-Y-Z coordinates, which are transmitted on a high-speed Gigabit Ethernet interface to a host PC.
