Micro Vision Systems Inc. has released TrueVision 1000, a real-time, high-definition 3-D image capture and display system for stereomicroscopes. Its sensor module replaces eyepieces on a microscope and instead connects to an image processing unit that displays the image to a 3-D monitor or projector with a resolution of 1280 x 720 or 1280 x 1024 pixels. For applications in science, medicine and industry, the system displays for onlookers images that are normally seen by one person through a microscope. It also enables microscope operators such as technicians, researchers and surgeons to position a screen for comfort. The system can store images for sharing and documentation and is compatible with the installed base of many stereomicroscopes.
