The Model 159X 3.5-GHz receivers from New Focus Inc. provide waveform measurements for wavelengths from 450 to 1630 nm, and across multiple communications protocols, including Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, Xaui and OC-48. Designed for test and measurement, these DC-coupled datacom and telecom receivers come standard with a multimode 62.5-µm fiber input. GaAs and InGaAs detectors are available for wavelengths of 400 to 900 nm and 900 to 1650 nm, respectively. The devices are suitable for frequency-domain and extinction-ratio measurements and for time-domain characterization of 2.5-Gb/s components.
