CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 1, 2017 — 3D PrintersThe X3 and X5 models of Markforged 3D printers from Markforged Inc. make it possible to replace aluminum parts with carbon fiber parts that are up to 20× stronger and cost 20× less.

The X3 is powered by the material strength and stiffness of Onyx, a high-temperature capable, carbon-fiber-filled nylon. The X3 prints strictly engineering grade thermoplastic fiber parts, and is available at a disruptive price point.

The X5 adds the ability to reinforce an Onyx part with a strand of continuous fiberglass, making it 19× stronger and 10× stiffer than traditional plastics. The X5 delivers parts that are both strong and affordable.
