CHESSINGTON, England, May 7, 2013 — Fujikura Europe’s new 70S fusion splicer reduces splicing time to 7 s and resists shock, rain and dust.

The device features an automated wind protector and a tube heater that delivers quicker splicing cycles while reducing the number of operational steps. Built-in training videos, a high-resolution 4.7-in. LCD monitor, and a lithium-ion battery that offers 200 splice and heating cycles per charge also are provided.

The 146 × 159 × 150-mm unit’s carrying case doubles as a table; a separate working table also is included in the standard package.
