8-W Green Laser
Coherent Inc.Request Info
Coherent Inc. has unveiled the Verdi G8, a high-power, 532-nm
scientific-grade continuous-wave green laser based on proprietary optically pumped
semiconductor laser (OPSL) technology, where the rod-based gain medium is replaced
with a semiconductor chip. With 8 W of output in a TEM00 beam, the instrument provides
a next-generation solution for pumping Ti:sapphire-based ultrafast laser oscillators
in applications such as time-resolved and Raman spectroscopy, pump-probe dynamics
and materials research. As with other Verdi G lasers, it produces low noise of <0.03%
rms, and its short upper laser lifetime eliminates so-called “green noise.”
The thin OPSL chip (a few microns) prevents thermal lensing effects that are present
in all diode-pumped solid-state lasers. Other applications include scientific research,
terahertz generation, optical tweezers, amplifier seeding, ceramic processing, laser
inspection and optical data storage.
