Coherent Inc. has expanded its LightStone line of high-power diode lasers with a model that produces 80 W of CW output at 808 nm. The device is used in direct-diode materials processing and as a pump source for diode-pumped lasers. Based on the macrochannel-cooled platform, it can be stacked vertically or horizontally. Typical operating current is 104 A at <2.1 V. Beam divergence is <0.35° × <10° FWHM. Power conversion efficiency is greater than 40%, and lifetime is 7000 h.
