5-W Power Output From Single Emitter
BERLIN, May 5 -- Lumics, a manufacturer of pump laser modules and laser chips, has introduced the LU0808B005 laser diode, with up to 5-W power output from a 100-µm single emitter.
This new laser diode offers the highest optical output power from a single emitter in the industry. Target applications are industrial laser systems and diode-pumped solid-state lasers. The reliability is specified with a mean time-to-failure (MTTF) of 10,000 hours.
Lumics offers the laser diode on 2 x 2.9-mm copper-diamond carrier or on micromachined B-mount with small footprint dimensions of 3 x 3 x 6 mm (H x L x W). The operating current is specified typically with 5.5 A at max. 2.5 V forward voltage. The threshold current is typically 525 mA. The emitting dimension from the laser facet is 100 x 1 µm. The beam divergence is typical 8 degrees horizontal and 30 degrees vertical.
