IRVINE, Calif., May 14, 2013 — Newport Corp. has released the 843-R handheld optical power meter, featuring simple configuration of measurement parameters and the ability to hot-swap sensors for quick measurements, even with multiple sensors.
Housed in an ergonomic, compact body with rubber bumpers and kickstand, the device is capable of measuring laser energy and power levels from picojoules and picowatts up to thousands of watts. Values are displayed on a backlit thin-film transistor 320 × 240 display, together with either a bar graph or a high-resolution simulated analog needle. The 843-R is fully compatible with Newport’s 818, 918D and 819C/D series photodiodes and its 919P series thermopile sensors.
In combination with a thermopile sensor, the power meter can measure single-shot energy pulse as well as both CW and pulsed laser power. The 919P is insensitive to beam position and offers a broadband, spectrally flat response from 0.19 to 11 µm with a maximum power range up to 5000 W. NIST-traceable calibration is also included.
The power meter operates on a rechargeable battery or while connected to an AC source.
